Beyond powerboats, super yachts and sailing ships, VIPs to this year’s Boat Asia event were treated to a glimpse into what could otherwise be an ultimate music and movie experience onboard any luxury yacht.

As sponsor to this year’s Boat Asia event, Ong Radio International’s team of system designers have designed a music system which is able to immerse a 99 square-meter area with high-fidelity music at complete ease, built with hand-crafted electronic components from McIntosh Labs in Binghamton New York.

Despite sporting price tags that range from $50,000 to millions, such custom-designed systems prove popular amongst both high-end residences and boats on the high-seas. “Our personalized approach in designing ‘bespoke’ entertainment systems begins with specific preferences of each client and his environment” says Marcus Loh, Ong Radio’s VP of Business Development.

McIntosh XRT1K
Column Tower Speakers
With power handling capability of more than 2,000 watts, the XRT 1K loudspeakers feature two towering columns of 22 2’’ titanium mid-range drivers each that flank a line array of 28 titanium tweeters each, forming a tri-column driver design, supported with 2 10’’ woofers and housed in exquisitely
lacquered cabinets found only in the finest of grand pianos.

Unlike conventional speakers that exude spherical shaped sound waves, the XRT 1K Column speakers produce sound waves which are cylindrical. This unique feature eliminates reflections from the floor, walls and ceiling, while ensuring optimal balance in high, mid and low frequencies, and an excellent distribution of power into each speaker driver, resulting in very high quality audio reproduction at zero distortion, to anywhere in the 99 square-meter room.

McIntosh MEN220 DIgital Room Correction
One of McIntosh’s latest innovations, the MEN220 corrects for optimal room acoustics without altering the tonal character of the loudspeaker, while also functioning as a 2-way digital crossover.

While these features of the MEN220 has the power to optimize the sonic characteristics of the highest quality music systems, combining these features with Ong Radio’s acoustic management fine-tuning, clients experience a level of clarity and resolution unattainable by any other means.

McIntosh MC402 Stereo Power Amplifier
The MC402 stereo amplifier is rated to deliver a hefty 3,200 watt in peak power, through an extraordinary, distortion-cancelling, quad-differential design comprising of four complete amplifier circuits, whose outputs are combined in the unique McIntosh-crafted auto-formers. This delivers absolute transparency and musical accuracy into loads of 2, 4, or 8-Ohms.

The MC402’s three-dimensional glass faceplate design adds elegance, while the illuminated peak-responding meters show the true power output, regardless of load. Its power guard indicators, remote power control and fiber-optic light diffuser illumination round out an impressive feature list, with parts hand-wound and crafted in McIntosh Labs, Binghamton New York.

McIntosh C45 Preamplifier
Designed for the dedicated music lover, the C45 features ultra-short signal paths in conjunction with state-of-the-art silent electromagnetic switching to virtually eliminate preamp noise. A low noise, high-performance phono preamplifier is included. Dual 6-channel inputs allow control of the latest multi-channel audio formats, including DVD-Audio, SACD, Dolby Digital and DTS Audio/Video.

The C45 features a 2-stage electronic volume control, a large, easy-to-read front panel display, and an assignable balanced input. Input level trims and fiber-optic / LED front panel illumination provide complete, convenient control.
