Ong Radio Unveils a Southeast Asian First at StereoNET Asia Hi-Fi & AV Expo Singapore 2026

Nearly a Century of Heritage. A New Chapter Begins.

For almost 100 years, Ong Radio has remained at the forefront of high-fidelity audio in Singapore. Founded in 1929 and formally established in 1937, the company has grown from a humble radio service shop into one of Southeast Asia's most respected luxury audio specialists. Through generations of craftsmanship, Ong Radio has introduced some of the world's most prestigious audio marques to Singapore while remaining committed to a single philosophy  delivering authentic musical experiences without compromise.

This July, that legacy continues at the inaugural StereoNET Asia Hi-Fi & AV Expo Singapore 2026, where Ong Radio proudly presents one of the exhibition's most significant showcases in Room 3612

A Southeast Asian Premiere

The centrepiece of Ong Radio's exhibition is the all-new Bowers & Wilkins 801 D5, making its first public showcase in Southeast Asia.

Widely regarded as the latest flagship loudspeaker from Bowers & Wilkins, the 801 D5 represents the newest evolution of the legendary 800 Series Diamond family designed for listeners who demand uncompromising accuracy, transparency and emotional realism.

Visitors will have the rare opportunity to experience technologies that include:

  • The latest generation Diamond Dome Tweeter for exceptional high-frequency extension and ultra-low distortion.

  • A refined Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top enclosure, precision-machined from aluminium to minimise resonance.

  • Bowers & Wilkins' renowned Continuum™ Cone FST™ midrange driver for remarkable vocal purity and natural tonal balance.

  • Aerofoil™ Profile bass drivers engineered to deliver deep, controlled low frequencies with exceptional speed and authority.

  • A heavily reinforced Matrix™ internal bracing structure that enhances cabinet rigidity while reducing unwanted vibration.

  • An extensively re-engineered cabinet and crossover architecture developed to push performance even closer to the original recording.

For audiophiles, this represents the first opportunity in Southeast Asia to experience Bowers & Wilkins' newest reference loudspeaker in a carefully curated demonstration environment.

A World First Pairing

While the 801 D5 makes its Southeast Asian debut, Ong Radio is also presenting what is believed to be the world's first powered demonstration of the Bowers & Wilkins 801 D5 driven by McIntosh electronics.

The demonstration system features:

McIntosh C12000 Reference Preamplifier

Serving as the heart of the system, the McIntosh C12000 is McIntosh's flagship two-chassis preamplifier.

Separating the audio circuitry from the power and control circuitry dramatically reduces noise, allowing music to emerge from an exceptionally quiet background.

Highlights include:

  • Dual-chassis architecture for maximum signal purity

  • Fully balanced analogue design

  • Premium valve and solid-state gain stages

  • Multiple balanced and unbalanced inputs

  • Extensive analogue connectivity for reference-grade source components

  • Precision engineering built for the world's finest audio systems.

McIntosh MC1.25KW Quad Balanced Power Amplifier

Driving the 801 D5 is the legendary MC1.25KW monoblock amplifier.

Producing 1,200 Watts through McIntosh's exclusive Autoformer™ technology, the amplifier delivers identical power into 2, 4 or 8 Ohm loudspeakers while maintaining extraordinary control and musicality.

Its Quad Balanced amplifier design minimises distortion while preserving effortless dynamics, allowing the 801 D5 to perform with unrestricted scale and authority.

Key features include:

  • 1,200 Watts continuous output

  • Quad Balanced amplifier topology

  • McIntosh Autoformer™ technology

  • Power Guard® protection against clipping

  • Sentry Monitor™ protection circuitry

  • Iconic blue watt meters and precision craftsmanship synonymous with McIntosh Laboratories.

Together, the C12000 and MC1.25KW create a reference-level amplification chain worthy of Bowers & Wilkins' newest flagship loudspeaker.

More Than a Product Demonstration

For Ong Radio, this showcase is not simply about unveiling a new loudspeaker.

It reflects nearly a century of carefully curating products that embody engineering excellence, craftsmanship and lasting musical enjoyment.

From hand-building amplifiers in post-war Singapore to becoming one of Asia's most recognised names in luxury home entertainment, Ong Radio has consistently championed brands that define the very best in high-fidelity audio. Today, the company continues to represent globally respected manufacturers including McIntosh, Bowers & Wilkins, Unison Research, ZenSati, Stradius, Kaleidescape and many more.
